      I'm a 32 year old woman who has had dental problems since childhood.  I did not recieve regular dental care growing up and for most of my adult life I have not made enough money to pay for my own dental care.  I live in near constant pain that no amount of tylenol helps.  I went to a dentist last year to have several teeth pulled.  I was told that I needed multiple root canals and crowns, fillings, and a partial.  I do not have that kind of money!  I'm in the situation where I make slightly too much money to get assistance from a dental clinic but not enough to pay for all my dental care.  I would love to find help!  I'm missing almost all of my back teeth.  I have a difficult time chewing food because of this.  My front teeth are in need of root canals and fillings.  I'm tired of living in pain and being afraid to show my smile!

          Oh how I know your pain. I've been there.

          First, I want to make sure you know that Tylenol  (acetaminophen) can be very dangerous and kill you if you take too high a dose. I say that because tooth pain can  make you clear a bottle in no time flat. Ibuprophen, known as Motrin or Advil is an anti-inflammatory drug that does not damage the liver. You'll need to talk to a medical or dental professional about taking that (can't advise that here).

          Ohio's dental society has some resources at http://www.oda.org/gendeninfo/programs.cfm

          Also, you have two dental schools in your state. With pain (emergency), dental schools are a bit easier to get in to. The cost is significantly lower and treatment will be broken up so the financial part is a little easier to swallow. Here is that information:

          Case Western Reserve Univ. School of Dental Medicine
          10900 Euclid Avenue
          Cleveland, OH 44106-4905
          Dean: Dr. Jerold S. Goldberg
          Phone: (216) 368-3266

          Ohio State University College of Dentistry
          305 West 12th Avenue;
          PO Box 182357
          Columbus, OH 43218-2357
          Dean: Dr. Carole A. Anderson
          Phone: 614-292-9750

          But first, please go to  http://ncmpact.com/hurtingteeth.aspx to see what you can be doing in the meantime. Stay in touch and let me know how I may continue to help. You can reach me on the contact page at ncmpact.

          Be encouraged!
